About the Artist

Peggy Ann Johnston- Artist/Educator

I enjoy pushing the limits in my partnership with clay and other materials. My art reflects internal places of conflict, struggle, joy, gratitude and whimsy.

Current Work

My current series in clay include relatively large coil vessels. Each vessel (pot) tells a story and needs to be viewed from all angles to complete the narrative. I also enjoy the meditative process of constructing small pinched vessels that often reveal themselves to be faces/busts.

In papier mâché I continue to make whimsical boxes and containers as well as an occasional mask. For me it is important to work with both clay and paper because the possibilities that each medium has to offer stimulates creative "rule bending" in the other medium.
